Hi everybody. Im Darragh, originally from Ireland but living in Germany. Im totally new to all of this so I hope I get the right post across. Im a newbee in the world of internet usage apart from facebook and youtube :-)
Iv lived with Crohn
s for about 8 years now, things were good for the last 4 years or so but i relapsed 6 months ago very badly and have never been so sick in my life. I lost 24kgs of muscle in 11 days, things got very bad at one point!! The meds Iv been taking have stopped working for me and my doc hasnt said it yet but if things dont get better,surgery is going to be the next step. Id d heard of the Paleo/caveman diet in the gym and through the grape vine but never took any real notice. I always ate pretty well, or so i thought until I started to read up on Paleo and its benifits. I read Robb Wolfs book and was amazed at what i thought was healthy, wasnt! I tried the 30 day challange and did ok, still some symptoms but all in all not to bad. My current meds are cortisone steroids and imuran(immune system suppressant) A huge improvement from where i was food and meds wise, believe me.... So.
Iv literally learned of this site in the last hour through a new friend and also found out although iv been eating paleo iv been eating the wrong foods again. Im not worried about weight loss, I want to regain the weight i lost. I went from 85kgs- 60kgs in such a short time my muscles and myself have literally gone. I feel like a skeleton but its motivating me to get on top of this condition and get me life back and get back on the gridiron.
Im not really a science type guy either, iv read some posts and dont understand a lot of the science talk. Im looking forward to learning but iv got a long way to go i suppose.
What id like to know is...
What foods and supplements should I be eating exactly?
When and what kind of training should i be undertaking when I start back?
Is there anything else you would recommend?
