I know there are more questions that are similar, but none that hit this exact point. I have noticed the past 5 days that my stomach is super bloated, and a tad jiggly, which it is normally tighter with not much wiggle to it.
I eat lots of meats, veggies, and oils, but no sugar, which has done great for me recently. I have changed 2 things in the past week: I started adding a bit of cream to my morning coffee, and adding a bit of cheese to occasional meals. Not much, but maybe enough to make a difference? The other thing I have done is get really stressed at work. I am up for a promotion, but had to give a 3 day presentation to all department heads in my company. Today is the 3rd day, and the final one, and I finally feel the stress dying down. I havent slept well because of it.
Having not changed anything except the small amount of dairy, could my sudden uncomfortable weight gain be due to cortisol levels being high because of stress? My face also broke out just a little, where Paleo has cleared it up beautifully. Any thoughts?
I'd just give this a little time. Keep eating sensibly and once the current uncertainty is resolved give it another week and see how your body reacts. You have enough to worry about right now!
The cream shouldn't be a problem but I do react to cheese and other milk products. That improved slightly after I started drinking water kefir, but it's still there.
Stress always does SOMETHING--sometimes you gain, sometimes you lose but it's fair to say your system is deranged because your body basically thinks you're fighting for your life. It will try to self-correct when you are more calm.
I would almost certainly look at the stress. I've been having similar symptoms after a few days of trouble at work and lack of sleep. I think people are often a little too focused on small details of what they eat at the expense of other factors. In any event, I always aim not to react to small variations and wait a least a month to establish a trend before panicking and changing things. Usually it takes longer to really get the big picture.
excessive cortisol could contribute to over eating. weight gain without overeating because of excess cortisol is highly unlikely. any any amount of dairy has your symptoms occurring in myself as well. i had to give up coffee because i dont enjoy it without cream. with the cream it was pure heaven. i hope you win the promotion and i hope it means more money.
