Are there items that you just can't buy or have in your house because leads to a binging episode? I am starting to think I just can't have nuts (and any type of nut butter) and any type of primal sugar(honey coconut sugar etc). Just knowing it is here I just keep eating and eating them until they are GONE! I start out good -- and just take a serving but then a few days later I eat until it is gone.

I can now have anything in the house without a problem...unless I start eating it. I think though that's partly because I tend to go to those foods when I'm feeling sub-par anyway. The nut butters, chocolate, honey - if I'm feeling good and have already eaten proper meals then I can have some then leave it. However if I'm feeling tired, or hungry, or inactive or with indigestion then it's a mistake to have them in the first place, and I won't stop until after it's making me sicker than whatever I was feeling before. I do have a tendency to need to finish things though - if there's not much left I won't leave it. Oh, ice cream. I've tested this most extensively and count it a good day if I can leave a pint pot for two sittings. On the same day. If the pot lasts more than a day it's bad ice cream. |

Macadamia nuts. Other nuts and nut butters, I'm fine. Dried fruit, I'm fine. Macadamia's may have a great fat profile, but for me, the're just plain crack. |

I can't have raw milk in the house unless I culture it within the first day or those 2 half gallons are gone in 2 days... if I turn them in to kefir or yogurt I am a lot slower with them. Canned coconut milk is an issue for me too... It's like ice cream! I also can only buy canned cod livers once a month or so. It's like 3000 calories for a can and I just can't help myself; I finish a can in a day. and I DEFINETELY cannot have any "paleofied" baked goods in the house. My body sees absolutely no difference between them and wheat garbage... actually I eat them even faster because I think my brain justifies that it's somehow healthier. |

85% dark chocolate. However, it's not so much that I can't have it INSIDE the house. It's just that, if I opened up a bar of it (one bar weighs 100g), I have to keep eating it until the whole bar is gone. And not just little piece by little piece over the next few days, or even that one day - I eat it all IN ONE SITTING, within an hour at the most. They were on discount a while back and I stocked up on a whole heap of them. Now they're just sitting in the pantry because I'm making quite good process and don't want to disrupt my focus. Maybe I'll crack open a bar when my pants fit less snugly ;D |

Greek Yogurt is probably my biggest issue. I just end up with a big bowl of it filled with berries and topped with a bunch of honey. So delicious. Also dark chocolate. No further explanation required. |

Six months ago, anything neolithic was a binge trigger as was lots of ripe fruit. Now, the grandkid has soda, cookies, chips, cereal, etc. and it doesn't mean anything to me. As a safety precaution, I don't buy such things for myself but at the holidays I ate ice cream and it didn't trigger bingeing. I did hit fruit too hard last week for bg testing, but that was planned and controlled. I do wonder what would happen if I stopped drinking water kefir, since my true recovery started when I noticed that cravings went away if I drank some. Now they never start. In my case, I think my metabolism has to be deranged in order for me to display bingeing behavior. Now that it's pretty normal, so am I--or as close as I'm likely to get. :-)) |

Nuts or nut butters, chocolate, honey, maple syrup, Larbars. Also any kind of non-Paleo sugary or salty treats, but I live alone so none of that ever comes in the house and it's not an issue. Although I can binge on anything - the foods above will trigger me into it just by existing but if I'm already triggered I'll binge on whatever's in the fridge (steak, soup...once it was chicken feet lol). And what the hell is it about nuts: they're like the Paleo danger food that nobody can control themselves around? |

Nuts and dried fruit. Together or separate I binge on them if they are around. Macadamia, walnuts, and almonds are hardest to resist. Heavy cream/fatty dairy is hard to resist too. I dropped dairy because I think it affected me a lot more than I realized. Plus there is something disturbing about being able to drink an entire pint of organic cream. I can not put it down. Lara bars were a mistake as well. I bought a box of the mini snack size ones to try. After consuming all 12 within 48 hours I knew that I couldn't ever buy them again. Anything you have an "addiction" to is likely something you shouldn't be consuming too much off. Luckily my love of chocolate is under control since switching to 90% +. It is much more enjoyable anyways without the side affects of eating half a bag of m&ms. One day I will have control. For newbies or those who still get to exposed to carbs(good or bad) its hard to put down paleo/primal treats. |

I'm with all of you on the nuts and nut butters. Just too good to leave alone. I also can't handle having coconut cream available. I finished off a 32-ounce jar of Tropical Traditions coconut cream concentrate in under 72 hours. I learned the hard way that buying Larabars by the box (24 in a box, I think) to save money doesn't work. No more Larabars for me. I ate dates for the first time last Sunday - 12 of them. No more dates for me either. Another thing I binge on is sirloin steak cooked in Kerrygold. I usually cook extra to have leftovers for lunch the next day. It never works. Ah, yes. I forgot about the time I polished off a jar of sun-dried tomatoes in olive oil. Sheesh. I really need to work on the ol' self-control. |

Oh goodness, so many things. Almond butter, fruit of all kinds, dates, raisins (which I find myself mixing with coconut oil and cocoa powder, making myself very sick). In the right mood I love tubers smothered in butter. It looks like I am craving carbohydrates, but I know this is a matter of needing to eat less rather than more. If I lay off these foods, I feel less anxious and the cravings go away. It seems that ever since I started dieting I just can't handle myself around easy calories like when I was a kid. I get that feeling like I have to hoard this delicious food inside my belly, even though I've had a reliable supply of nutritious food for about three months. I hope that impulse will go away so I can start to enjoy these foods without the tummy aches and mood swings! |

If I cook anything that's more than one serving size, chances are that I'll binge on leftovers. That means eggs scrambled with vegetables, ground beef cooked with vegetables and butter, rotisserie chickens, and salmon burgers are all fair game. I'll eat my intended serving of say, 5 oz of beef and vegetables cooked with butter...but if I made extras for later, you can be sure that the rest will all will be gone soon, and it'll start a binge of various other foods in the house. I read all time on here that you "can't" binge on steak and butter...and to just eat "MORE FAT, silly" to curb binges. yeah, well, I guess I'm a freak of nature. Other than cooked leftovers, it's dangerous to have cheese, heavy cream, avocado with tamari, nuts, pork rinds, and certain fruits. Basically, any food can be a binge food if it's lurking around and I'm in the wrong mindset. |

Where do I start... I binge on anything containing sugar, so I just don't buy that kind of stuff anymore. I've also come to the conclusion that I shouldn't eat yams anymore, as I polished off about 3 servings to myself last night, and would have eaten more if there was any left. Dates are also a no no, they call to me from the cupboard, and for that reason only last about 3 days until they are gone. Coconut milk, after it's been in the fridge, has the texture of pudding, mix in a little honey.....can't stop that one either! |

For paleo-friendly binges I cannot buy plantains very often. I slice and fry one up in coconut oil with sea-salt. I intend to eat a small amount and they are gone right away. |

I used to have an addiction to nut butters. One day I decided to each 1/2 the jar and enjoy it without regret. However, it made me so sick, inflamed I never want to do it again. Therefore I don't binge on it anymore. |

As long as I'm not in binge mode, I can pretty much control myself around any kind of food. As soon as I get into a bingey mood though, I feel like cookies and chocolates are my biggest weakness. Unfortunately, I'm the only paleo eater in my home so there's always junk food in abundance. As far as paleo foods go, I can get bingey on fruit and nuts. I really have to portion them out. |

butter coconut oil, cream, dried coconut cottage cheese honey seeds and seed butters (thank god i am totally allergic to nuts) fruit, which i dont buy anyway but when i am on a farm or working in an orchard and its around i have to not even start eating it and make sure i dont dehyrdate any for "later" i can have a how totally full of SAD snacks and they gross me out, i would never eat that shit, ever. but honestly i could eat the fuck out of a few sticks of butter and have pretty obliterated my pancreas with overeating fats:( 3 weeks binge free for me for now though :) |
