Is it more beneficial to take the daily recommended (3g) of Omega-3 in the morning? Or at night? Does it make a difference? Before or after a workout?

Pick a time when you are not eating fruit, fructose or sugar. Consider eating whole foods to get your Omega 3. http://paleohacks.com/questions/27649/pufas-combined-with-sugar-ages http://paleohacks.com/questions/66467/do-fish-oil-megadoses-increase-the-risk-of-heart-disease |

Fish oil can induce insomnia. I know it does to me big time (and I found out about it afterwards so it can't be placebo). But I also read that some people actually take it against insomnia. To me it sounds crazy but I guess we're all different. |

I doubt it matters much. You are looking for a long-term adjustment in your 3/6 ratio. Omega 3 is a long chain fat, meaning it does not get directly utilized as fuel (unlike the fat in coconut milk). So it gets processed and then shunted to storage. So time of day, before/after workout really shouldn't matter. Fat is continually being stored and consumed. It is not only "excess" fat that gets stored. Some fat is being sent to fat cells for storage at the same time that other fat cells are giving up fat to use as fuel. |

I like to think that taking it in the morning ... the fish oil helps me in thinking and cognitive function. I don't have a scientific reference but I think it helps me, because I notice it when I (rarely) forget. |

When really never matters all that much. But then I take my fish oil AM and PM, so I don't have to think about it! |

Depends on you. My hubby takes it at night and falls asleep, no problem. If I take it at night, I'm up alphabetizing the spice cupboard or doing other wacky ocd things till dawn. |

I find before bed helps me sleep more deeply. Take it away from other fats. |
