For my husband in Iraq. I would love to send him some fun things but now that he's paleo, we can't make him a batch of chocolate chip cookies or whatever, I need ideas other than just a case of almonds or whatever. I'm going to make some homemade jerky but don't really know yet what to put on it and other than that, I'm stuck! Anything that can be dehydrated and/or sealed to send overseas. Thanks!

I would second the Larabars. I've been making some homemade knockoffs lately. You can google the recipes. Thanks for being there for you husband as he is in Iraq for us. God bless. |

Depending on were you live, I know that Whole Foods can help you out on this. They have a lot of raw nuts and other interesting things. I would say do some of your own research and see what you can do. Amazon is really great on bulk! |

Organic Bake Dried Fuji Apples (2x1 lb. packs) Delicious! Addictive! Melt in your mouth yet crunchy at the same time! That's why I can't keep them around myself. :) |

I love to add a little maple syrup and cinnamon (plus sea salt) for a sweeter jerky |

I don't know if you could send this, but what I really like for a snack is just a spoonful of shredded coconut and a spoonful of butter (or coconut oil). |

If you own or have access to a food dehydrator you have many choices at your disposal. As already said in posts above, jerky, (a personal favorite), and turn some of the jerky into pemmican, also dry many fruits,(will keep for ages),also homemade spice mixes to jazz up the army fare. I love jerked bacon, crunchy and excellent for use as chips. Only limited by your imagination. Be sure to thank him for his contribution and I hope he is back home safely soon. |
