My hubby and I have been doing the Paeleo diet since Oct 17, 2011, but for the past 6 or so weeks we seem to be losing the same 2 - 4lbs over and over. Black coffee with sweenter We have paleo granola with coconut milk for breakfast Lunch is normally a leafy salad with left over meat from the w/e or egg, Dressings are paleo made too. Snacks will be a small amount of fruit or dried fruit Dinner would normally be salmon/pork with salad or with stir fried vege's etc, Not sure where we are going wrong, Any thoughts?

"Paleo granola with coconut milk"? There's your problem! You need more complete protein and less fat/carbs for breakfast. Also, liquid calories are easy to overconsume. Don't drink calories if you want to lose weight. Additionally, stop snacking. Either eat a complete meal or suck it up. JS |

Hi, Pauline! How much fat do you each still wish to lose? If it's less than 10-15 pounds it may not just come off because your body may not agree it's "excess." I'm not saying there's anything wrong with how you're eating, but change is your friend when you're trying to interact with the "lizard brain" part of yourself. How about switching around and eating fatty meat for breakfast, moving your granola, etc., to lunch? Based on the info you provided, I'm seeing coconut or other nuts in the granola plus dried fruit and paleo dressings, etc., and you may not be able to get all the way to your goal weight eating that every day. To keep it, you might need to reduce portion sizes on each meal/snack--not major, just a little bit less. I've done that sometimes--dish out then deliberately put a little back. I only eat the part I put back IF I'm hungry an hour after finishing the meal and that never happens. In my case, my eyes are definitely super-sized. :-)) |

Hi, I would try and remove the sweetner and dried fruit for a while and see what happens. Sweetner is known to slow weight loss. Also don't be a slave to the scale. Take some pics and measurements and see what is happening.I have been stuck at a weight for a month but have almost lost a pant size. |

Agreed. Try avocado or hard boiled egg for snacks if you must snack. Try a week with no fruit or 1 small fruit/day & try sticking to berries. Up your protein & eat some animal fat to fill you up and make snacking unnecessary. And drink that coffee black girl! |

Coffee with sweetener - no I'll jump on the wagon and say it - you need more real food, more fat, and less processed foods or candy cigarettes. Eggs and meat for breakfast, with some vegetables. Meat and a salad or veggie for lunch, and the same at dinner. Water is all you drink, besides maybe black coffee or unsweetened tea. |

Yes, ditch the granola and go for eggs, meats or if you really want some carbs, some sweet potato hash or latkes. I love to make eggs bakes and eat on them all week long (makes breakfast prep a snap!) and I would also try to limit the fruit intake, like others have suggested. Pre-pregnancy and non-breastfeeding, I would also try to never snack. It goes against everything modern health movements tell you - that you need to eat every three hours - but only eating two or three times a day is actually best for your insulin levels and for fat burning. Eat enough at your breakfast to not eat until at least lunch, or perhaps not until a second (and final) meal at 3-5 pm-ish. (Unless you're pregnant or breastfeeding, like me. Then I say eat when you're hungry and go for as much fruit and carby veggies as you want. :-) ) |
