This is an odd one.
I used to eat plenty of chicken. I barely eat it now. It is not related, in any way, shape, or form to the negative connotations of excessive PUFA's, or other issues. I still love eating eggs, to the tune of a half-dozen a day minimum - just not what eggs grow into.
I would say this happened fairly gradually. A committed "white meat eater" for most of my adult life, it started happening when I couldn't bring myself to eat a chicken breast, even with lots of fat added to it. After moving onto dark meat (and occasional wings), I then got to where I wouldn't even look at the poultry section of my grocer.
Now I'm to the point where I would rather not eat, than eat chicken.
This was most evident to me yesterday, visiting my mothers home and bringing a roasted chicken for myself and my son to eat (she keeps her fridge stocked with processed foods). I was fasted for about 20 hours, and couldn't bring myself to eat more than 2 bites of the chicken. It didn't taste "bad", I just didn't like it... in a "this won't satisfy me, why bother" sort of feel. For what it's worth, I have similar feelings for most seafood... especially if I have to navigate shells, bones, etc... whereas I have no problem dismantling beef/lamb/piggy ribs or oxtails and smashing them into my face.
Anyone else lose a taste for a specific food for no real reason whatsoever?
Not that I care (no big loss if I don't eat chicken), but just curious...
