Try The Linkery -- they might have some or know where to get some.

Also, I ordered some Mangalitsa bacon from WoolyPigs.com -- not cheap, but AMAZING.

I second the Linkery...AWESOME PLACE! I've seen uncured bacon at Whole Foods and/or Henry's, but I'm unsure if it's pastured or grain-fed. FYI - I hear that the store attached to the Costa Brava Spanish restaurant in Pacific Beach, Pata Negra, now carries authentic, imported Jamon Iberico (pata negra): pigs are fed grain/corn for a several weeks after weaning, then left to forage the Spanish hills for ACORNS. The flavor is unbelievable! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamon_iberico – ricechek Sep 7 2010 at 18:58
Awesome info, thanks. I'll look into that – Todd Sep 7 2010 at 18:59

I've heard (and had) good things from Sausage King in Hillcrest though I've never been, myself.

This is a bit of an old post, but my question is, what do you consider "quality bacon"?

Sorry, should have been more specific, I guess. Pastured Pork is what I was going for. – Todd Dec 28 2010 at 6:43
Ok, I've seen a variety of bacon. Most of the stuff in the stores looks really fatty (so wasn't sure if you were thinking more meaty bacon or what). – James Dec 28 2010 at 7:07

They sell pastured bacon at the Encinitas farmer's market on Sundays 10-2 (or so). I don't like it as much as regular bacon -- much less fatty and it's cured very subtly... not enough salty/smoky flavor for me. But it's healthy!

@ Todd, your post is from 2010, but maybe you are still interested in it.

In La Jolla is a great butchery called "Homegrown Meats" it is specialized on grass-fed beef and they sell a super delicious bacon there.

Not just the bacon is good, also the meat.

The butchery is not close to my place but I invest the time and drive there every week twice.

Thank you. I have been there, it's a decent shop. The meat is either grass-fnished, or grain finished... cant remember – Todd Apr 23 2012 at 19:07
