Hi everyone. I had my first carb re-feed this past sunday. It all went well, got to enjoy some of the things that i have been thinking about during the week lol. My question is that 24 hrs after the re-feed i was a little hungrier than most days, 48 hrs after the re-feed, my appetite is almost non existant. Im guessing that i am in ketosis quicker this time, as my liver isnt storing as much glucose and it is going to the fat stores for fuel a lot sooner.

Has anyone experienced this after a re-feed?

Thanx for any advice and or comments.

i have no experience with "re-feeds", so no answer, but i am curious about what you ate and the meal timing. – sage_ Feb 14 2012 at 15:29
Sage i had about 5 chicken wings, that were cooked in the oven. And it was about 10pm at night. – Nick Feb 15 2012 at 10:24

Seems pretty normal to me, though I do remember how strange it can be to be reacquainted with hunger and satiety signals. There's no magic on/off button for ketosis. Your body is almost certainly happily burning more fat but it's the 'happy' part that matters. The appetite for most of us is very rarely stimulated by an actual lack of resources. With your hormones balanced and functioning properly they can manage things without driving you to distraction most of the time.

For the most part these days my appetite is quiet. If the opportunity for food presents itself then it will let me know whether to chow down or stop after a few bites. I still tend to try and eat more, but then I'm able to take the cues and skip meals altogether later. If I'm short-changing myself then that's when my appetite comes back and lets me know!

Everyone is a little different. For instance, VLC kills my appetite, as does fasting.
