I'm not feeling well...mostly owing to job stress and anxiety right now (which I'm addressing, FYI). But right now most food sounds awful. Chicken, soups, carrots...all the very basic paleo foods I'd think of helping with this sound awful.
The only things that sound remotely manageable are crackers, cookies - major non-paleo carbs. I know full well these choices are psychological (tied to childhood comforts), but seriously...the idea of most other foods makes me wanna barf :( I have lamb and salad and eggs in my fridge, all going to water bc it sounds awful!
I have been able to drink some whey mixed with water (which I allow in my normal diet), and bananas. Any ideas of foods I can work with to stay paleo (which I know should make it easier to get back to normal - last thing I need is a depressive pasta spiral!) without being totally grossed out?

Try some other fruits along with the bananas before you dip into SAD carbs. Any whole fruit would be better than that.
I'd go with high fat stuff though. Try bacon, dark chocolate, or some full-fat yogurt with a bit of honey or fresh berries.
First off, although plenty of people will tell you that fasting is stressful, you don't want to be stressed by trying to eat either. There's a good chance you feel nauseous for a reason.
As for foods, paleo carbs may do the trick. How do sweet potatoes sound? How do they sound as chips, drenched in oil? In fact, if it's a way out of a problem while you try to deal with other things, even getting vegetable (or just potato) chips from the store may be a reasonable compromise if they have a comfort factor for you. Look for the better quality ones, and you can probably survive some seed oil. In fact, staying gluten-free it may be worth indulging in other foods if it'll help get you on track. Might not suit everyone but it's possibly what I'd do - using whatever's available to make me fit and capable as possible is quite paleo to me.
More likely though, I'd go for easy fatty meat. Ground beef patties always seem to go down easier if my stomach doesn't feel up to chicken, lamb, steak, eggs etc. Again it's a bit of processing as a compromise since I unfortunately wasn't brought up suckling on raw bones.
If nothing else will go down/stay down without a bad case of the queasies, and you happen to have some bone broth in the freezer -- broth will almost always go down. As an added bonus, I've found that when I feel cruddy, after a couple of bowls of bone broth, my gut gets back on the function-train and it's easier to eat other healthy things.
How long have you been mostly paleo? Besides the stress, which sounds terrible, you sound like you may be one of those that get the "carb flu" pretty bad.
If you feel like carbing it up, give in, but do it smart -- a tub of mashed sweet potatoes with butter could be a good start. :-)
Stress and anxiety from things like a career are highly non-paleo. What this does is puts your body into a similar vicious cycle that occurs when you eat the wrong foods (grain consumption, for instance). Ultimately, stress and anxiety in the modern doses we experience are unnatural.
When the mind experiences strong stress and anxiety (usually from a career commitment) it puts us mentally in a "state of loss." Think of this state like the same state a gambler enters when they start losing at the gambling tables. Each progression into the state of loss makes it easier and easier to experience another loss of the same value. In essence, the mental "state of loss" skews our perception of loss and makes it easier to make bad decisions. This is mainly because of anatomy, due to our bodies desire to combat higher level things like stress with lower level things like stimulation of the nervous system.
So because you're in a mental "state of loss" due to your career commitment, your body is misvaluing food due to a desire to combat the stress and anxiety with stimulation of the nervous system. Essentially, the body is craving hyper-palatable foods in order to counter-act your stressful state.
The true answer to this problem is to quit your job. It's the same as grains.
As well, when cortisol enters the system, due to intense stress, it robs blood from the stomach (where the most is at any given time) and moves it to the brain. (You may notice this when your face goes red when you're really stressed). Your stomach is also running on reduce capacity because cortisol is making your body prioritize blood for use in the brain and therefore will not digest food well.
Traveling back to reality land, where quitting your job may not be an option (honestly some people have a stress response such that nearly ANY job would be stressful, so the advice to quit is unrealistic)...
If you feel that bad, and you don't have chronic health issues that would be aggravated by consumption of grains, then eat some crackers to keep your stomach settled and you not feeling so sick. I suffer from nausea related to stress frequently but fortunately for me eating paleo foods usually improves things lol.
Why are you trying to stay paleo? I think you need to get a metabolic typing test done, you may be the type that feels great on pasta and vegetables, seriously, not everyone is suited to the paleo diet. If your body is rejecting these foods, then do not make yourself ill over them. Find out what your body THRIVES on, listen to it and then respond to it.
Last thing you need to do for your body and mental health is to bang on with food that makes you feel ill, even if you THINK it is doing you good. At the end of the day, your body is the ultimate judge and the only teacher.
