I posted this query on someone else's question and realized it needed it's own question.
Any of you been to a scooter rally? It's a really fun and a great excuse to pack up and go some distance to meet up with other people who are into the same thing you are. It's a social thing. There's lots of variety among the scooterati, which lends itself to lots of different types of scooters and interesting conversations. During the rally weekend there are always fun activities and group rides around whatever town/city we're in. On Saturday night the rally hosts hold a big ass banquet. The last one we went to was in New Orleans and was very Paleo (coincidence) with 4 roasted pigs. On the last day there is a gymkana where people go through a course that's been set up to test their scooter riding skills and what not. Prizes were awarded accordingly. At night there is lots of food, drink and conversation. The rallies are also pretty cheap. The most we've ever paid for a ticket is $60. They keep the prices down by getting sponsors and selling raffle tickets. Sometimes we stay in hotels and sometimes we camp (the best). We always get a t-shirt and swag bag full of goodies.
My point with all this is that this seems to me like a format that would lend itself well to the Paleo lifestyle. Rallies are fun, social events organized around a common interest. It is also the only way we get to see some people during the year. Scooters have scooter clubs and then those clubs put on the rally. Maybe we should all start Paleo Clubs in our areas to cover the more social aspect of the Paleo lifestyle. Then we could start having Paleo rallies!
So my questions are:
1) Do people think that using the scooter model to organize socializing would work for Paleo and if anyone is interested in testing the theory?
2) What type of activities would a Paleo club do? You can make this town/city specific if you want. What would your Paleo club in your locale look like and do?
3) What type of activities could you see happening at a Paleo rally? You can make this town/city specific if you want. What would your Paleo rally in your locale look like and do?
4) Scooter clubs all have clever names and sometimes have badges made up for scooter jackets. What are some ideas for names for your Paleo Club you'd want to use in your hood? Any iconic images for your badges or motos?
