The, "yeah, I'm gonna go ahead" is an attempt at (office space) humor; but I really am serious about this.
I just keep getting fatter and fatter (around 275 at 6 feet and 51-years-old), but also the sinuses, lungs and prostate aren't getting any better.
I've never gone more than a couple of days without dairy in my life. Not more than a week without sugar.
Anyway..., I'm gonna have to go ahead and ask you if you've got an extra kick in the pants to give me to add to all of those that I'm giving my self.
If you have any interest in whether I make it or not, you can see my pre-100 paleo Valentine's Day post and bookmark my blog. I'm doing this.
Many thanks to all involved in Paleo Hacks.
I woke up thinking, “Whoa, dude, you’re weak. You’ve been trying to go paleo for years. You’ve been trying to get off dairy for decades. Now you think you’re suddenly just going to be able to do it?”
That's from my blog post 100% Paleo for 100 Days – Day 1 – Groan… Turned around by Folks at Paleo Hacks. Which includes a picture of Renee's advice in sharpie on my forearm.
tl;dr: My 100 days of 100% paleo felt like a mountain on the very 1st morning until I logged onto PaleoHacks.
My biggest advice to you is simply this- be kind to yourself during this time. If for some reason you slip up and eat something not in your plan don't freak out about it, move forward and understand its the small steps in the right direction that have the biggest impact. You're going to be great! And keep it simple. Even with all my culinary expertise (yeah...I've got some!) it's easy to get overwhelmed by the ridiculous amounts of recipes, and techniques and suggestions and do it this way that way my way....feel confident in YOUR way and in what makes YOU feel good...(within the paleo/primal realm, and it's a HUGE realm.) there is no ONE SIZE FITS ALL way of doing things and anyone who says otherwise may perhaps not be the best to include in what you're doing. Best of luck!
Go for it. You can do it! If you're low carb the first week will suck -- but it will pass and it's SO WORTH IT. Wait'll you feel how good it feels to live inside a healthy human body. It's like being a little kid again; nothing but energy, and everything's a playground. :)
Good luck! My husband has been pretty successful treating his sinuses (I'd say he's at about 90% effective, which is pretty amazing for him) by staying away from gluten and dairy. You can totally do this--you'll be "done" right before Memorial Day and you'll feel and look incredible for the summer. And honestly, you probably won't want to go back.
Find a buddy, do a challenge, visit ancestral-friendly sites, go to the farmer's market, get a crock pot, clear your kitchen of junque, make a vision board and post it prominently, go out and play.
How about some kind of award for making it through 100 days?
Maybe a certificate of achievement? Of course, to make it a paleo certificate, it would probably need to be painted on a rock. :)
If you make it through 100 days, we'll make you a paleo certificate of achievement. How's that sound?
