I feed guys, they eat fast food, carbs or no veggies and I am limited on cooking skills. I'm trying this, and really notice the cutting way down on carbs for my self and it's won me over. A few are trying to lost 100 lbs. The problem is I don't know what to eat, feed these guy. And if I do figure something out, fighting with them all the way it comes out like crap. And then they are off eating boxes of cereal. I know everyone is different, but is there a basic guide, food ideas reference? I know it's a science, but I need ideas, not grandiose ones. Most sites are full on,ot for beginners. I would appreciate and helpful suggestions, thanks.

Sounds like you run a human farm. I like to refer newbies to Mark's Daily Apple. Mark Sisson does a great job at breaking people into the primal/paleo world. |

Get lot of meat. Put salt and pepper and garlic on meat. Heat pan. Get coconut oil and/or butter. Put coconut oil and/or butter in pan. Add meat. Remove meat when cooked. Put bacon in microwave. Cook bacon. Remove bacon. Top meat with bacon. Consider adding egg. Enjoy. Seriously though, I honestly started there and have very gradually gotten fancier. You might want to check out Mark Sisson's cookbooks on amazon. They helped me learn some new things and make some delicious meals because they aren't quite as restrictive on the ingredients. Also you could try Chris Kresser's meal planner. |

I've published a delicious starter recipe, with step-by-step directions, for exactly this situation: The Paleo Scramble, A Basic Technique For Real-World Cooking. Actually it's much more than just a recipe: it's a cooking technique, with many delicious variants. You might also be interested in Part I, which goes through the basic kitchen supplies you'll need. Also, if you are in charge of feeding, perhaps you are in charge of groceries? If so, stop buying cereal, bread, etc., and make sure other tasty stuff (bacon, nuts, beef jerky) is available. Almond butter instead of peanut butter. Have veggies chopped and available for snacking. Sometimes, it's just as simple as-it's not there, so they have to figure it out. |

Thank you, and thanks for replying. I'm on week 3 and today is the first day I haven't wanted to kill anyone fighting with me about food! ...Still trying to sell people on coconut oil! I'm doing this as a life makeover, so it's still all a learning curve and there are still concessions. One of the guys has grasped carbs and was in shock drinking a soda how many carbs was in it and switched to water. He was drinking almost 10 a day. When we hear "empty calories", I don't think people really know what that means. |
