I'm a paleo newbie, after forgetting to grab a rice cake for breakfast a few weeks ago for breakfast and for the first time in years, did not have stomach pain. Funny how innocent, "hypoallergenic" rice was doing a number on me all this time and I had no idea. (I had already eliminated soy, gluten, and dairy, and after making the grain connection, threw out rice and other grains -- as well as legumes -- from my diet for good.)
Unfortunately, I can't really "cheat" too much on my diet or I'll get terribly ill. Paleo chose me, not the other way around.
That said, I indulged in a couple of truffles this afternoon that had questionable ingredients, but they were a gift, and they tasted pretty darn good. :D Other than the occasional French fry that I've filched from my fella's plate, I don't think I've strayed too much this holiday.
Oh, and last week, I had some weasel-poop coffee (Kopi Luak or 'civet coffee'), about an ounce of wine, and the frosting off some cupcakes. So yeah, guess I did stray a wee bit last week, but my stomach definitely let me know it the next day. It's back to clean eating this week, though, and my body thanks me for it.
