Cortisol test results 6-8am (6) (depressed) Normal range 12-24 nM 11-noon (3) (depressed) Normal range 5-10 nM 4-5pm (1) (depressed) Normal range 3-8 nM 10-midnight (2) (normal) Normal range 1-4nM Cortisol burden (12) Normal range is 23-42 Dhea (5) in normal range of 3-10 ng/ml Key: Cortisol-DHEA correlation Adapted to stress Adapted with DHEA slump Maladapted phase 1 Maladapted phase 2 Non-adapted low reserves High DHEA Adrenal Fatigue Interpetations:Depressed morning Cortisol <13nM suggestive of marginal HPA performance Normal rhythms exhibit highest cortisol value for the day at 7-8am Morning cortisol augmentation, or 11 beta HSD inhibitors worth consideringSuboptimal output of Cortisol. Marginal adrenal status. Adrenal Support and Glycemic control suggested. Ok So I don't know what HPA is or beta HSD inhibitors. I don't take any adrenal support or cortisol augmentation or DEHA. I follow Paleo about 80-90% with some fermented dairy and the occasional rice. Keeping my carbs below 150 grams a day. I could easily go lower, but I already have problems not being hungry due to low Cortisol, especially in the morning. |

LOW Cortisol and Dr K's morning meal reccommendationDr. K suggests eating a high protein meal immediately upon waking to lower Cortisol and help Leptin sensitivity. I started doing this as an experiment days ago. Then I got a Cortisol test back and it showed I had low Cortisol. So if you have low Cortisol should you still follow Dr. K's protocol? Cortisol test results 6-8am (6) (depressed) Normal range 12-24 nM 11-noon (3) (depressed) Normal range 5-10 nM 4-5pm (1) (depressed) Normal range 3-8 nM 10-midnight (2) (normal) Normal range 1-4nM Cortisol burden (12) Normal range is 23-42 Dhea (5) in normal range of 3-10 ng/ml Key: Cortisol-DHEA correlation
Interpetations: Depressed morning Cortisol <13nM suggestive of marginal HPA performance Normal rhythms exhibit highest cortisol value for the day at 7-8am Morning cortisol augmentation, or 11 beta HSD inhibitors worth considering . Suboptimal output of Cortisol. Marginal adrenal status. Adrenal Support and Glycemic control suggested. Ok So I don't know what HPA is or beta HSD inhibitors.
