Hi - K and I initially turned to a Paleo style diet after struggling for years with weight issues and the related ailments that often go alongside. We found and still do that grass fed matured meat not only has a better flavour but is much healthier too. Now that said we did and still do use industrial meat. Reason? Well unless you raise your own, or are very wealthy, which most people aren't it's just unaffordable for the majority of folk. Yes the purists will argue...but it's not 'Paleo' - So what I would say, as long as you generally stick to the principles relating to real foods and a Paleo style diet you won't go far wrong. Further more you will still be way ahead of the sugar addicted masses. There is a certain snobbery in and around the Paleo community that only serves to alienate a large section of society, which is a shame as the core principle of only consuming real foods means that it will not be possible to feed the world this way. If we truly want a solution to the worlds obesity pandemics then yes real foods are the solution, however we need to be realistic and involve everyone and not just a select few. To this end there is a place in Paleo for mechanisation and protein sources exposed to concentrates as feed.
