I have the same problem. I've tried remedy-ing it with eating high quality, low sugar dark chocolate- but then I end up eating entire bars in a day. Here are some things I've tried and seem to often work:

  • calling a close friend. I often call my best friend when I'm stressed. She is always a great listener and has good suggestions
  • going to a store where I enjoy the aesthetics- even if I can't afford anything. I like going to Restoration Hardware and to sit sitting in those beautiful couches.
  • go to an art museum and enjoy some beauty
  • walk outside for 5 mintes. take your shoes and socks off and stand on real earth
  • get in your car and drive around listening to fun music for a little while
  • go to Brookstone and sit in one of those massively expensive massage chairs for a few minutes
  • spend a little time reading blogs or books that have positive views on hard work and capacity- this positive view of a strenuous life and disdain for ease for the sake of ease may help you see your stress as positive- or at least purposeful. I love to just read selections out of the "Knowledge" section of the Gym Jones website. I find it inspiring. It really motivates me to push on and enjoy the challenge. I enjoy the blog Oh Pioneer because it features beautiful places and photos, and values hard work.
