Eggs, grass fed beef, pasture raised chicken, salmon, beef jerk, avocados, merry mix, kerrygold butter, macadamia nuts, olive oil, ghee, cocunut oil. I also eat dairy so I get full fat yogurt, kefir, and aged cheddar cheese.
Here are some essentials your friend may be interested in:
Eggs (organic, pasture raised, cage free), bacon, grassfed ground beef and/or ground bison, chicken breasts, wild salmon or tilapia, spinach or mixed greens, broccoli or broccolini, brussel sprouts, kale, avocado, mushrooms, onion (red or yellow), sweet potato, spaghetti squash, cauliflower, cold pressed olive oil, coconut oil, garlic, organic apple cider vinegar, kerrygold unsalted butter, celtic sea salt, ground black pepper, lemon or lime.
Also, I keep plenty of tea in stock. I don't drink coffee.
Some others to consider depending on your friends dietary goals:
Almonds, walnuts, etc. (no peanuts), seeds, almond or seed butter (which could be homemade with the dry almonds and dry seeds), tomato, peppers, apple, banana, citrus fruits, berries.
I hope this helps your friend get started. All of this depends on his or her dietary goals. For instance, right now I am staying away from fruits and nuts because I am trying to lose weight. Fruits are high in sugar and nuts are high in fat. Plus it can be hard to control portions with these items.
Additionally, I would advise your friend to buy what veggies and fruits he can organic in order to avoid unwanted chemical and pesticide exposure..
Ground beef (for spaghetti, chili, or something similar), chicken breasts, fish, a squash (spaghetti or butternut, or both), spinach, eggs, nuts (usually almonds or walnuts), apples, avocados, green peppers, onions, mushrooms, sweet potatoes, garlic, broccoli (usually frozen - keeps well), kale or some sort of other winter leafy green.
Some of my essentials: Eggs, 1-2 lbs beef, Chicken breasts, Broccoli, Salad stuff (lettuce, Spanish, carrots, tomatoes, Cucumber), A couple types of fruit, Kerrygold butter, A few veggies for dinners (ex squash, mushrooms, Brussel sprouts), Garlic and opinions, Stuff to make either salsa or guacamole and raw veggies for dipping, Potatoes and sweet potatoes.
We keep it simple. This is the weekly stock up for me, my wife, and 16mo old baby.
7 dozen eggs
5 lbs bacon
6 lbs ground beef
4 lbs chicken breast
4 lbs pork chops
6 lbs beef or pork roast
1 whole chicken
whatever looks fresh in the produce isle to make salads.
