While I am not in agreement with the whole allowed/not allowed thing, carbonated water with no added sugar should be fine. Try to go for a naturally sparkiling mineral water, that's even better.
Bad idea? I just went pale about five days ago. Up until then I drank redbulls and soda constantly. Figured I would quit the beverages first and then my pack a day habit. It seems like nicotine cravings have some sort of connection with blood... (more)
So I stopped using shampoo and soap. It has been a week and a half, and I have used baking soda and ACV every 3 days or so (I'm male with medium length, ultra fine hair) to deal with the intense greasy feeling in my hair. That 3rd day I wouldn't... (more)
I have been fairly well committed to Paleo since mid November, but I wasn't feeling as awesome as it sounded like I could whenever I read the blogs that inspired me. I FINALLY cut out artificially sweetened drinks and BANG, that was the problem.... (more)
Hi! New to Paleo but really trying to throw myself into it. I've a bit of a celebration this weekend and my go to drink is normally spiced rum and coke. I've read that rum is Paleo (enough to get away with) so I'm just looking for some... (more)
As the title says, I like Zevia and it seems to be a fairly naturally based product that shouldn't cause a crazy insulin response or dissolving your bones. But it isn't water or tea either so....? Drink it or not?
Can't find an ingredient label, but if Stevia is the only thing in there besides flavoring and carbonated water, it's nothing to worry about. Stevia doesn't spike insulin either, btw.
Does anyone know what can be done for the horrible desire to drink a soda? or at the very least some juice? I don't really like fruit so that isn't an option. Or where there is at least some somewhat paleo friendly juice? In addition does anyone... (more)
I'm weening myself off diet soda by drinking a lot of the Poland Spring sparkling water that has "mandarin orange essence.". No calories, carbs, sodium, etc. the ingredients are: spring water, natural flavors, CO2. My questions are: 1. Is this... (more)
Please only answer my question if you have constructive input (I know that NONE is the best answer. I know that it is bad for me. I know that there are better options). So if I am out with my friends and decide that I want a mixed drink (I dont... (more)
Ok, so I've been enjoying the benefits of a paleo-style diet for a while. I foray into more neolithic diet only in a few areas. The first of those is dairy. I do eat some fermented dairy (raw-milk yogurt, Greek-style), cheese (mostly hard... (more)
I drink it sometimes as a substitute for kombucha actually. Yeah, I caught the kombucha addiction after giving up soda. Kevita is a much better choice since it has about half the carbs of most brands of kombucha. It's definitely better than soda,... (more)
Hey guys, quick question. I am of the belief, as nearly all of you are, that sweeteners are not healthy. Insulin secretion, and a lot of chemistry I look forward to understanding but currently don't. Anyway, I was telling someone (not... (more)
I've noticed recently then when I sit down to have a nice plate of warm turkey bacon, I get a strong hiccup on my first couple of swallows. This usually stops happening as I continue eating. Hiccups are not a normal thing for me, since I have... (more)
I made my own soda tonight using sparkling water, lemon and lime juice, and powdered stevia. It tastes exactly like diet Sprite. I understand that plain ol' water is what all the cool primal kids are drinking these days but it's nice to have a... (more)
I'm wondering because we switched my father-in-laws soda from regular coke to an organic 'real sugar' version of soda and he's drinking allot less... Like, from 12 a week to about 8 a week, with no nagging from us. It's also caffeine free, mmaybe... (more)
So, I started using baking soda for all of my cleaning, it's great stuff!! I even use it instead of shampoo. Now my drains are clogged with it, we had to dig the septic system up twice to unclog it, and it is clearly baking soda. Does anyone... (more)
I for some reason cannot comment on the above, which I upvoted... but yup pour vinegar down there doesn't have to be much, OR what I usually do as I never seem to have vinegar on hand, is a kettle full of boiling water. That'll clear it out.
Been following a strict VLC/ZC for a long time now but haven't kicked the diet carbonated drinks habit until recently. I usually drink 1-2 of them a day including diet cokes, diet red bulls, diet sodas. Kicked the habit this week and noticed a... (more)
I get so bored on just water and coffee but will not drink soda. Today I got carbonated water, dumped out 1/4 of the can, and poured in a bit of POM juice. It is delicious and a great soda substitute. Sure the 1/5 cup of POM isnt the healthiest... (more)
Hi all, I am wondering why baking soda has apparently been the cause of fatigue and lassitude I've been experiencing lately. I had decided to use it as a toothpaste substitute as I can't purchase any of the "special" toothpastes(such as TOm's of... (more)
Ok, I'm eating paleo, have lost a lot of weight without too much difficulty and more importantly feel much better, have introduced IF into my week, again with positive effects. However, I like diet coke. Not gallons but at least a can a day,... (more)
I ran into something called "Zevia". And actually looks Paleo... enough. Lol. What do you guys think? Is there possibly any way to concoct a "Paleo soda"? Thanks. Zevia ingredients: Paleo...enough or not even close? http://www.zevia.com/cola (more)
