Is there an official protocol for purging all this spam?

Lately the spam posts on Paleohacks have increased. I count 7 this morning, mostly for one particular weight loss gimmick. There's so much of it that it's pushing legitimate posts way down the list. Is someone the official spam purger here?

ROFL when I read the title question I thought you had a stockpile of spam in the pantry and didn't want to just put it in the trash...

The old site allowed users over 10k to close and then delete messages. you could also tag something as spam and get other 10k+ users to identify it.

Also, on teh old site, the moderators actually logged on once in a while and were active in banning and suspending accounts -- this site lacks moderator invovlement.

Moderation for new users needs to be turned on and maybe an IP based blocker for the ranges the spammers are coming from.
