Try ground chia it seems not to be as irritating to the gut. Onions should be avoided also. And look for fillers in your protein shake like gums, etc and artificial sweeteners as they will also cause gut problems.

"moderately paleo" doesn't tell us too much, we don't know what you're eating. It's likely what you can remove from your diet to help with the bloating, not what you can add. But we need to know what you're eating first.
