Hi,

I have been on paleo for the last 3 years or so. It has been a great experience! I've lost 50 pounds, 3 year long case of heartburn went away, stopped taking antidepressants, etc.

In the last 4 weeks i've been getting more and more stomach-cramps and this last week also the heartburn is back!

Anyone else had this problems after such a relative long time on paleo?

It's freaking me out since i've felt so healthy for so long and now suddenly this comes back and bites me!

The heartburn comes and goes, but the stomach discomfort stays. Sometimes it feels like i need to poop but can't. I'm getting scared that it might be some tumor or something in my colon, even though that mostly seems to happen to older people.

the gallbladder is on the right side (& the majority of the liver is on the right side as well).

maybe check your symptoms against gallbladder issues, such as gallstones.

Everything was fine until i started feeling discomfort from my gut, which got me to start worrying. Right now it feels like i have a lot of gas on the right side of my gut but cant get it out. It's like its stuck. I went to a doctor but she could not find anything wrong except for my intestines making a lot of noises!

Gah, can't reply directly to your comment. Daz says gallbladder, that could be an issue. But bear in mind that gas can feel very uncomfortable. Gas can be easily caused by many common paleo foods such as cruciferous veg (think cabbage, broccoli, etc.), coconut products (other than oil), nuts, onions and many fruits. If you have been to a doc and she did not say it was gall bladder, it is probably gas. Walking, stomach massage and yoga can help get it out. You may want to look at what you have been eating recently that may have triggered it. Gas and bloating can definitely trigger heartburn, so this is a pretty likely scenario. Check your diet, maybe try low FODMAP for a while to see if it helps, and remember to eat in a calm and unrushed manner. Reducing stress in general is helpful.

For me, heartburn is intimately linked with my digestion. If my tummy is bloated, I get heartburn. That is why I am doing gut healing and IBS healing stuff to fix both my tummy problems and my heartburn problems.

You mention cramps, so it sounds like you may be having digestive issues which are sparking the heartburn. Basically when your system is bloated it's pushing on your stomach and acid goes up where it shouldn't.

Causes of this could be numerous - maybe your overate or your body didn't agree with something you ate. Or maybe you rushed a meal or ate whilst stressed. Have you taken any new medication or ate something new? Have you been stressed recently? What other new stuff has happened in your life?

would suggest thinking about what youve changed recently, everything happens for a reason.
