You might want to run these through promethease instead, they (usually) tend to provide better descriptions. You could also just go to snpedia.com, this is where promethease gets its descriptions from. Just search for the red SNPs:... (more)

I bet I'm not the first paleo peep to go hog wild on protein when starting paleo. I developed terrible tension headaches, stiff neck, muscle cramping, lately bad joint pain / muscle pain, and sneezing fits. Of course, there could be lots of... (more)

I can testify that my rare headaches (perhaps ten in my whole life) were always related to sulfites. Since 2008 I brew my own wine and drink only that. No headache since.

I'v spent an enormous amount of time and read all kinds of theoretical info about methylation causing excess sulfur and ammonia. Does anyone here have that issue or is this all ivory tower theoretical stuff? Ever since going paleo and... (more)

Some dried fruit is Sulfited. Is this safe? Or should I stay away from it? I know some sulfur is naturally occurring, like in asparagus, and we obviously just pass the sulfur, hence the sulfur smelling urine. Is sulfited kiwi ok?

Sulfites used in dried fruit can cause some problems with some people. http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/fy731 It's not metabolically useful in humans, but it's not problematic either. Inorganic sulfur isn't all that important from a human nutrition POV.... (more)

If you have a problem with sulfur you may be able to take some molybdenum to help with this. There is a genetic polymorphism in the methylation cycle called CBS which may be at fault. Not pleasant! I don't know my CBS status (yet) but I react to... (more)
