My journey to Paleo has been long and sometimes tortuous; I was a vegetarian/vegan/dairy free for 12 years, turning to meat-eating 10 years ago, then onto cutting out gluten, then to following WAPF guidelines by adding raw dairy, using all the parts of the animal in stock and organ eating and lacto-fermenting some foods. Finally, I arrived at paleo 4 years ago and have been flirting with it ever since. Now I am full time paleo and am incorporating many more 'lifestyle' changes into my daily routine such as barefoot walking, and f.lux at night p.s. I practiced attachment parenting (a la 'Continuum Concept') with my two children who are now unschooled by me. You can contact me at: aquatrepattes[at]gmail.com |

Should Paleos lighten up? this statement was a little teaser - I do not think paleos are dour and boring!!!! I actually know no other paleos in the flesh and do not have a paleo circle, I just wanted to see what people thought that's all! It worries me that people feel the need to bang their heads against walls about it though.....I think it is a case that the paleo diet actually stimulates a healthy lust for life (I am thinking of Mark Sisson here as one example) but do people see this as an obsession, or that we are obsessive? |

paleo colon cleanse I was wondering if you could go on a meat/fat cleanse - like a raw veggie cleanse only with 100% meat and fat. Does that sound crazy or what? |

Would it be dangerous or beneficial to eat 100% meat for a certain period of time? this is a great article, thanks, Jay - interesting to see that a diet of 80/20 fat/protein cleared up any problems the men were having..... |

fasting and blood sugar The mornings are the worst times, I need to eat within an hour of waking...although it has actually slightly improved in the last few months....I am slim and eat a low carb diet. Perhaps it is the case that I just have not pushed through that 6 hour cut-off point. I hardly ever snack, but eat good, big meals - could it be that I am eating meals that are too large in size? I tried to take chromium for a while (about a month), I heard that helps with blood sugar balance, but I did not fast whilst I took that supplement. |

Is there any advantage in drinking chicory over coffee? The only brand I have found so far is Nestle: coffee and chicory combined, but I am loathed to buy it, 'cos it's Nestle. Anyone know of any other brands out there? |

Drinking Grease. How much is too much? @pjnoir - most hunter/gatherers included some raw meat in their diet - even after the brain was developed, try under-cooking calf's liver, so it stays pink in the middles, that is one way to eat raw meat and not really taste it... |

Ear wax. Should it stay or should it go? Patrik, I NEVER cleaned my children's ears and my daughter had chronic ear infections when she was a toddler - the culprit? pasteurized dairy products, which of course increases mucous in the ear and nasal passages. |
