comment What do you think of Full-body MRI?
You see Quilt, the thing is it's all about context ;). If you are working with a preventative practitioner that has good reason and something he's actually looking to see on an MRI then a scan may be worth while, but if you're just gonna go get a 360 scan cause its on special then you are likely to get a radiology report back with all sorts of non-essential information on it that has you chasing your tail and getting progressively more invasive procedures done.

@Quilt: You say "Thats what someone would say who has no idea what to look for". You have already validated many of the responses in stating that you should have indication that you are actually looking for something specific rather than just doing a whole body scan to see what pops up.

This! A far under-recognized aspect of many testing procedures is the false negatives that give rise to more invasive and riskier medication and procedures.

Yeah, there is a big PC crowd in here. Come on...this and August are right on. Nothing wrong with speaking in terms of masculine and feminine traits Unless we are becoming a bunch of amoebas I guess.

Yeah, body temp in and of itself tells you nothing. It may be more useless than just looking at a total cholesterol number.

comment Is sauerkraut worth the investment?
Kefir is a pain in the arse! I tried it, but keeping up sucked. Ended up tossing em. I only ferment kraut and other veggies now and periodically do some 24hr. yogurt. But good luck with the grains...I never found kefir to taste all that great so maybe that lead to my not caring for the upkeep.

comment “Listen to your body.” - how much BS is in that statement?
Yeah daz, thats actually what I was thinking of. In the end saying "satiety" just isn't defined enough to give someone an actionable way to use it. So the 80% full rule like the Japanese say I think just makes it a little more specific.

comment shoulder injury, shoulder impigment?
A.R.T. is great stuff. Also consider how you are performing your shoulder exercises. If you go to a chiro they can instruct you, but if you dont consider looking into a book called "congruent exercise".

comment Is distilled alcohol the worst possible thing you can legally put into your body?
Alcohol kills the STD's I've been told. Thats why you should only have one night stands shit face drunk. I got the RCT's to prove it....somewhere. Raincheck on that last part.

comment How many grams of glycogen are burned per 100kg deadlift you reckon?
^and actually could be a bit high. I believe I saw the big fiasco at the PHD site here perfecthealthdiet.com/category/diets/… . Some of the data presented did indeed indicate that fructose would preferably refill liver glycogen at a faster rate than glucose, and that glucose would somewhat be preferential for muscle glycogen. I would assume partitioning post workout to refill muscle glycogen within a window more so than other things.

comment How many grams of glycogen are burned per 100kg deadlift you reckon?
Good answer...I would put the 100kg deadlift in context of how many reps your doing to indicate which metabolic pathway is burning the most, but in any sense I would find it difficult to believe you are burning more than 30 grams of glucose during a 15 minute run of deadlifts. I've seen some data, and its surely individual, but if you think about it thats a good nuff guess.
