Um, saturated fat is harmless and may even be beneficial. The "nutrition experts" you speak of have been fooled by the industrial seed oil manufacturer complex who wanted to reap more profits out of stuff like flax, soy, and rapeseed oil which were unfit for human or animal consumption and only useful for making oil based paint. Through various processes of refinery - nearly the same as gasoline refinery, they degummed, bleached, deodorized their toxic oils and fed it to the public. The marketing machine did the rest vilifying animal fats and pushing margarine.

There is no scientific evidence to show that consuming coconut oil helps people lose weight. But there is one recent study, however, using MCT oil, which suggests coconut oil may work in the same way. Even if coconut oil does help people lose weight, few nutrition experts recommend it, since coconut oil is loaded with saturated fat: 12 grams in 1 tablespoon versus 7 grams in a tablespoon of butter.

Theoretically if you consume 500 calorie meal and replace butter with coconut oil , your metabolism will speed up and burn more like 15% or 75 calories

Not the question you should be asking, you can lose weight eating anything. However your body of course will not burn body fat while it has dietary fat to burn.

It's more about timing and quantity.

I have them every day and I've lost 72 lbs so far, so I'd say yes. However, it depends on what ELSE you eat. I keep my carbs low, my food clean and healthy (organic, pastured, no industrially processed oils, no grains).
