Like brewer's yeast or baker's yeast... I know there are yeast extracts and nutritional yeast and stuff but can we just eat the whole, living yeast without risking a systemic yeast infection of some sort?

Don't know about kefir, but I have been prescribed boulardii for my leaky gut syndrome by my functional medicine practitioner. He said he noticed a very good recovery of the gut lining in his patients using this particular probiotic.

I suggest you read one of the books by Dr. Crook, the expert on systemic Candida infections. It sounds like you have the classic symptoms. Going ZC should have shown some improvement but perhaps you need to go zero carb for a bit longer? ... (more)
