An article came out that horse meat will likely be able to be sold in the US: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/u-d-may-approve-horse-013153988.html. This is in relation to a recent post on here:... (more)
So having some people over for dinner and really want to do some sort of bacon-wrapped appetizers. I don't wan't to do dates due to the high sugar content, but wondering if there are some good (low carb/sugar) and simple ideas? ...maybe I should... (more)
I had some bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers at a Superbowl party! They used cream cheese, but you could substitute it with maybe a guacamole or egg type mixture! Just cut jalapenos in half, gut them, fill them with your mixture, and then keep that... (more)
Whether it is availability in your country or cost that has been a barrier...what meat haven't you had but have been curious about? I've always wanted to try kangaroo. wild elk, antelope, etc. Basically, i wish I could live off of wild game! For... (more)
New to paleo and I just wanted to double check and make sure this paleo waffle recipie is ok because it is to darn good tasting to be true. 3 eggs 1c cashews 1/3c coconut milk 3tbsp sugar free maple syrup 3tbsp coconut milk 3tbsp almond... (more)
Please note: Paleo-ified junk food is still junk food. However, if you are going to eat this, dump the "sugar-free" maple syrup. It isn't maple syrup and is worse for you than the real thing.
I am a total Game of Thrones (Song of Ice and Fire) geek. After watching seasons 1 and 2 on HBO I read all 5 books in a one month marathon. It is amazing. As readers of George R. R. Martin know, he goes into painstaking detail in regards to... (more)
Yes, I know baking ain't paleo, but anyway... What's your favourite paleo brownie recipe that gives you moist, fudgy, dense, chocolatey brownies? I just tried one on health-bent, but wasn't wowed by the results...
I made some almond milk awhile back (yes, you can milk an almond) and used the leftover dried meal to make some flourless brownies. They were very rich and almost fudge-like in texture. I also used sunflower-seed butter instead of peanut butter... (more)
Okay. I kept reading about raw/runny egg yolks added to a cooked meal and decided to try it today.I normally hard-boil my eggs or scramble them up with something. I used to be afraid of raw eggs but read on this forum that it is really the... (more)
I was wondering about this after reading several posts from people who say they don't enjoy starchy foods unless they are heavily fatted up. One of them said they do better with a higher percentage of fat in their diet and could only tolerate so... (more)
I'm super excited about these. I loved hot dogs as a kid, and still do, but don't eat them for reasons we all know, and shake our heads at. It seems as if Applegate Farms is really committed to NOT doing what all the other food companies seem to... (more)
Please know that we only use whole muscle meat in Applegate hot dogs, so there are no "lips or holes" in our hot dogs!!!!! Can you please change your article as it is not 100% accurate. Thanks!
Has anyone made sweet potato gnocchi? Could you do it without flour? I eat sweet potatoes and this sounds like a good way to get a "pasta fix" if you were in the mood. If you mixed this with some good bacon I think it would be amazing. That is all. (more)
I think you might be able to try it with sweet potato, coconut flour and eggs - not sure about the ratios, however... If you wanted a lower-carb version you could also try it with some canned/mashed pumpkin instead of the sweet potatoes. (more)
I know everybody LOVES coconut oil (as do I and use it as my main oil for cooking, etc), but would it be beneficial to my HEALTH to add in MacNut and Avocado oil as well? I found a good MacNut Oil on Amazon in case anyone is interested:... (more)
A better route would be to eat coconut flesh, whole macadamia nuts or avocados to get a bunch of vitamins and minerals along with the fats. Adding refined oils to your diet drives the nutrient density downward.
If cost was not an issue at all, a day would look like this: Breakfast: true pastured eggs, served with yolks slightly running on top of organic kale and tomatoes, coffee. A cup of organic blueberries. Fair-trade coffee. Loose leaf green tea... (more)
I haven't been on here in months! But I'm so excited because I get to order Wild Planet Sardines for $2.40/can, which is best deal I've ever had. I'm going to order a case. Now, should I get the ones in spring water or marinara sauce? Spring... (more)
Why not with extra virgin olive oil? That's what I get. I get them at $2.25/can from Amazon. Free shipping with the Subscribe and Save program. I know these are BPA free I think the food reward thing is dumb if you're dealing with healthy food. I... (more)
I would imagine we all go through phases where a particular food or combination of foods delights us. I've just recently fallen in love with snacking on a single square of Lindts 85% Dark Chocolate, with a spoonful of double Devonshire cream on... (more)
Hullo all, In the last few weeks as I've pushed to be more strictly paleo, I've been searching for the perfect chocolate. Lindt was a good place to start, but some of them had soy (which I'm trying to avoid when I can). The 85% was too sweet. The... (more)
There is a protein bar called a Zero Pumpkin Supreme Protein Bar. It has almond butter, pumpkin, sweet potatoes and chocolate. Its decent tasting, but has some ingredients which upset my stomach a bit, plus its processed. I was thinking of making... (more)
Okay, so I've been tinkering with different things to put in plain black tea (What you would find for cheap in a southern super market) for a long while. Lets just say, I get a little experimental with flavors. Anyway, I found a Chocolate Tea... (more)
Heya cavepeople, I noticed something this morning. The breakfast I was eating, I wouldn't have eaten pre-paleo. I had a big hunk of grass-fed beef with some pesto, sauerkraut, and kale. Kraut and kale are both fairly new to my diet, especially... (more)
